Color Theory

pantonesketch13I've never been one to follow seasonal "it" colors, but I do find trend watching interesting. Pantone, the industry's color experts, have listed Spring 2009's colors. Check them out along with fashion sketches from designers such as Nanette Lapore, Carmen Marc Valvo, Peter Som, Tracy Reese, Reem Acra and Alvin Valley! Which colors would you most likely wear out of the bunch?

Here are some fashion sketches that designers created using the color trends for this season...Pretty awesome!

Designer to Watch - Jenny Packham

jennypackhamapparel5Heard of Jenny Packham? No!? She is an incredibly creative designer that celebrities have fallen in love with. She has also has a bridal collection, which is superb! If I were a bride with an unlimited budget I'd check out her designs! Packham brings past eras of fashion trends back to life with contemporary twists. She graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art in London. Below are some designs I enjoy. What do you think?

Ever Dreamed of Being a Magazine Editor?

thumbnail_magcloudIf  you've ever pictured yourself as the next Anna Wintour or you have a dream of starting your own magazine, check this out! Mag Cloud is a new website where all you need to do is upload your .PDFs and they'll print, mail and distribute your magazine. It costs $0.20 per page plus shipping. So, a 20 page magazine would cost $4.00 plus shipping. Pretty good if you ask me! They print on 80lb paper and saddle stitch the pages.

Granted, if you're trying to be eco-friendly you can just make an online magazine, but I still enjoy holding a magazine in my hands and flipping the pages.

So, if you're saddened because Domino and Blueprint have died and you want to create a magazine equally as awesome to fill the void, here's your chance to be the editor in chief!

The Fashion Show

fashion_showAs if there weren't enough TV shows to be addicted to already, Bravo is launching The Fashion Show starting on Thursday, May 7, 2009. Since Project Runway (PR) is moving to Lifetime officially, Bravo is going to try to keep viewers by this new show that features 15 professional designers competing for a cash prize of $125,000 and a chance to have their designs sold in the retail market. Hmmm...sounds VERY similar to PR, but I'm sure I'll love this too. Not only will there be three judges (Kelly Rowlands, Isaac Mizrahi and Fern Mallis), but the audience will get to weigh in and ultimately have the final say as to who should win.

Anyone plan on watching this too?
