Color Blocking

Color blocking has made a huge comeback, and you're going to see mannequins dressed in bright color combos throughout your mall if you haven't already. Open up your latest J.Crew or Urban Outfitters catalog, and you'll find it!

Unfamiliar with the term? Basically, it's sectioning off your body with different colors.

You'll see red matched with yellow, lime green paired with royal blue and coral with magenta...the list of unusual fashion color combinations goes on.

With unusual color combinations on the rise, you'll also notice floral prints and plaids falling by the wayside. It's all about solid colors and with the occasional gingham and striped print thrown in.

I'm pretty excited about this because I tend to stick to solid colors anyway. So, all in all color blocking is great in my book! What about you? Are you glad this early 90's trend is back?

Oscars

I don't get a chance to watch too many award shows, but I always make it a priority to see the Oscars because it's the Super Bowl of  Hollywood glam. This year was no exception even though my husband was under the weather. He made me a fancy cocktail, and we watched the whole event from start to finish. I have to say that I wasn't really blown away by the dresses, hair and makeup with the exception of three ladies. There was also a strong common thread among them all - simple hair, clean makeup and body hugging column dresses.

My top choice...Gwyneth Paltrow. She looked incredibly elegant in her Calvin Klein column dress. She definitely knows the red carpet and her style very well, and you could see that in her confidence and posture. Her hair was simple and straight, which was best for the dress. Her jewelry definitely made a statement and added some color to the clean look.

2. Jennifer Lawrence in bright red Calvin Klein took my breath away. At first it was because I couldn't believe that was the girl from Winter's Bone! Her character in that film was anything but glamorous. Her figure looked amazing in that dress. The bright red color against her pale skin and blond hair was brilliant. To me, the dress definitely catches your attention, but it also lets her true beauty steal the show. LOVE!

3. Anne Hathaway's custom blue satin Giorgio Armani Prive dress was outstanding. I liked the structural elements, the color was perfect with her skin and it really showed off her figure.

I definitely thought Mila Kuniz, Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock were amazing as well.

Who were your top three of the night?

Art Show

You are cordially invited to my VERY first art show happening on March 4, 2011!!! YAY!!! To me, my exhibit is my happy dance celebration of being an official stylist for a year. I would LOVE to have all of you come out and celebrate with me and my fellow artist friends. I often talk about Jeanette LeBlanc and Session Nine Photography, and both of them will also be displaying their work!

Steve Lynch from Snapdragon Salon will be also be showing his beautiful photography with hair and beauty being the subject of the photos. I canNOT wait to see it!

The exhibit is centered around the theme of STYLE. There will be yummy food, drinks and a DJ spinning some tunes.

In addition to celebrating art, we are partnering with Fresh Start, which is a women's foundation that focuses on helping women get back on their feet after experiencing hardship. We are collecting pens and journals that will be passed out to women that attend counseling classes through this organization. I'm a BIG fan of journaling your thoughts on paper, so I was excited to see this was a way the exhibit could give back.
