About two months ago, Michelle Herrick and I met at First Friday, and since then we've already done two fashion photography collaborations. The one I'm sharing with you today is our first love child - "Wild About Sequins."
The concept came to me while I was driving wearing my sequined infinity scarf when all of these dots of light began dancing around in my car. I thought it would be great to do a shoot around the glittery, trendy dots, so I shared the thought with Michelle, and she said, "Let's do it!"
I brought my good friend and hair stylist Kim Cornwell onto the team. We decided to have fun with several hair styles. We incorporated braids, wild messy waves and definitely my awesome head scarf that I am SO proud to say I wrapped myself. (Check out this post to see some wrap inspiration).
Obviously having a subject to photograph is key for a fashion shoot, so I asked my good, gorgeous gal pal, Sarah Hubbell, to be our muse for the day. Her beautiful brunette locks were perfect, as well as her fun personality! Not to mention she has awesome style, so I knew we would have fun putting outfits together with items from her own closet. Sarah is also a makeup master and did all of the makeup for the shoot.
My other friend Sarah Ingham let me steal her amazing sequin H&M dress and J.Crew sequined top. I used my own sequined belt and head scarf. We threw in pieces from Sarah Hubbell's wardrobe...and...voila! SEQUIN STYLE!
Michelle did the location hunting, and boy did she find a BEAUTY! We shot everything in a 70's style apartment in the middle of an orange grove with peacocks. NO LIE! haha! It was full of sunlight and blank walls - perfect for the airy vibe.
I hope you enjoy the photos! We had a blast creating them!

A couple of weeks ago I found an email in my spam filter from AZ Lifestyle Magazine. I had a mini heart attack because I feared I may have missed an opportunity to share about AVE Styles. It turned out I wasn't too late, and was asked to share some tips about dressing age appropriately. It was a no brainer, and I wrote down a list of tips.
Lauren Jordan did a great job writing about the subject. You can read the article here.
I'm so proud to be quoted saying, "Forever 21 doesn't mean forever shop there." haha! Yep, I said it, and you know you think it. ;)
I can't wait until tomorrow when I get to share a fun fashion collaboration with photographer, Michelle Herrick. The shoot is called, "Wild About Sequins." Here is some lovely inspiration that got our juices flowin'. Tune in tomorrow to see how it came out!
Usually you never hear the words the words, "summer" and "boots" in the same sentence. However, with the big comeback of desert boots that's no longer the case.

These masculine shoes are now being sold in the women's shoe section. Popular stores and brands such as Free People, J.Crew and Urban Outfitters are pairing these shoes with summery shorts and dresses.
I just bought a pair at Steve Madden boots (unfortunately not available online) this past Saturday for $39.99. Pretty good for real suede and comfy soles.
These shoes are a great investment because you can wear them through all of the seasons. They'll look great in the fall with leggings!
