Teal Obsessed

The color that I'm loving the most right now is teal. I'm not only looking for great ways to incorporate it into my wardrobe, but I'm super excited to add it to the color scheme of my new home. I think you're going to be a seeing a lot of this gem tone this year. Kate Spade, Cole Haan and J.Crew have all made it part of their collections. Check out some gorgeous teal inspiration below, and let me know if you happen to find some teal pants. I would LOVE to own a pair.

Choked Up

Remember in the 90's when chokers were popular, especially those velvet ones with the different charms you could put on them?

Well, chokers are BACK!

Not necessarily velvet fabric strips, but tying things close to the neck is definitely a great way to accessorize as the temperature starts cooling down. I've actually started tying neck scarfs this way just because I'm so excited about this trend that I'm willing to endure the sweat in 106 degree weather.

But start collecting beautiful ribbons and fabric. You can also find some cool chokers at H&M right now if you prefer a less DIY approach.

Emotional Clothes

Clothes are emotional. I was reminded of that on the last episode of Project Runway, and again today. When I'm happy I reach for bright colors, prints and dresses.

When I'm sad or stressed I STAY in my PJ's.

When I'm tired I reach for jeans and a t-shirt.

When I'm feeling extra pretty I wear dresses and skirts.

I dress with my emotions not because I want to send a message to the world, but because being such a visual person, clothes have the ability to impact my mood.

Today was a stressful, emotional day, and it started out with me staying in my PJ's until Noon. However, I decided to take a break and forced myself to hop in the shower, take extra time for my makeup and hair, and pick out an outfit I feel confident in. Granted, I'm still a bit bummed about my morning speed bumps, but I'm feeling much more positive and confident sitting in the exact same chair as before simply because I "dressed for success." Cheesy -I know, but it seriously can help turn frowns upside down. ;)

Capes

So, I may be getting a tad ahead of myself considering it's still 106 degrees in Phoenix, but I'm already spying my next winter coat - or shall I say CAPE! Pea coat style is usually what catches my eye each winter, but I'm ready for something different. Capes have been around for ages. I'm not sure why all of the sudden I'm wanting one. Maybe I'm watching too many Marvel comic movies?

Home Renovation Peek

Well, it's safe to say I have the home renovation itch. Ryan and I have been turning our 1953 home upside down over the past two weeks. I thought you guys might want to see some sneak peeks via my cell phone. I put some Bertoia look-a-like chairs together, we made our own front door, we painted our living-room, kitchen, cabinets, installed some new lights, and did some yard demo. It has been CRAZY, but I'm loving the transformation. Full reveal with before and after pictures coming soon!
